Bombay has therefore recorded the highest rainfall ever in India within 24 hours in this year. The highest ever rainfall in 24 hours in India has been at Aminidivi, Lakshwadeep (6 May 2004 ) which recorded 1168 mm. The heaviest rainfall recorded anywhere in the world in 24 hours was at Foc Foc (7 Jan 1952) , Reunion Is. (near Mauritius). They received 1800 mm.
The rate of tuesdays rain was around 0.66 mm/min whereas in the West Indies it rained once at the rate of 38.1 mm/min on 26 Nov 1970. This is the most intense rain ever recorded.
