Flyover or me

A famous crooner of yesteryears - Lata Mangeshkar (LM) has started making some ridiculous statements. She has done so in the past too. The bone of contention is a flyover which os to come up at Dr. G. D> Marg - popularly known as Pedder Road (named after a British Municipal Commisioner of Bombay - in olden times). Now old LM wants that the flyover should not be built since her home at Prabhu Kunj (near Cadbury house) would get covered by it (its value will go down perhaps). She has threatened to leave Bombay. Ive heard her say that her voice would also get affected (sic).

Now are we progressing in the city so that the likes of old LM can hang around ?

Does old LM own Pedder Road ?

There is this another band of bored housewives who operate under the name of Pedder Road Residents Assoc. - they too are shouting that they dont want the flyover.

Lets get some facts straight. Pedder Road is probably the most polluted stretch of Bombay after Sion. The fact that expensive Mercs and Porsches and BMW's move around there doesnt mean that there is no pollution. Its a major connceting road and hence traffic is heavy at all times. Come at 2 am and you will have to wait before you can cross the road. When the road has a strategic location, shouldnt all steps be taken so that it serves the city in the most effective manner - rather than pamper some old celebritiy residents of the locality ?

India beats England at Mumbai

Alt. title : India loses to England at Mumbai

Whats this ? First its said that India won (which is apparently incorrect) and then it says that India lost. As we shall soon see - Indian players did win.

These are the days when everything is stage managed to precision. Matches are fixed to no end and the players and administrators both relish the situation. The players on the other hand need not sweat it out under the hot sun, for they can cooly throw their wickets and rush back to the cool climes of the pavillion to have their chilled beers. The players win.

If we look at the situation in a cricketing way what we observe is that the selectors are incompetent - blame Kiran More for that. The batsmen are old aging and getting rusted by the day - for example - Sachin Tendular.

The players are getting paid in lakhs for losing or not even playing (e.g Saurav Ganguly). In addition to this regular payment they rake in even more from the bookies - for having danced to their tunes while on the field.

And probably some good news - the big T is going to England to get some part of his aging body operated upon. He's been ruled out for the forthcoming matches. Probably a "polite" way of easing him out. The administrators dont want another round of brickbats which they received when they dumped Ganguly. They have learnt some lessons from that experience.

Every cloud has a silver lining.
